Methodology, scope, and limitations

The 3D Deck Generator is a planning aid. Its current outputs are conceptual drafts, not construction documents or permit-submittal packages.

Current supported scope

Conventional rectangular attached or freestanding wood decks for early planning. The Los Angeles pilot is limited to addresses confirmed within the City of Los Angeles and one- or two-family residential properties that pass a future eligibility review.

Not currently supported

Roof decks, balconies, multilevel or pool decks, complex slopes, unusual soils, engineered systems, and properties subject to hillside, coastal, historic, wildfire, or special-plan rules. Neighboring cities, including Burbank, are separate jurisdictions.

How checks are reported

The planned compliance engine uses Pass, Fail, Review required, and Not applicable. Missing or unknown data must resolve to Review required, never Pass. Current checks are automated and have not yet completed qualified professional review.
